IST provides student access to technology 365/24/7 with a wireless network throughout the campus, a broadband connection to the Internet, a 1-to-1 laptop program from grades 6-12, a 1-to-1 computer to student ratio from K-12, specialized software for each subject area, and professional development to ensure our teaching and learning reflects the connectivity, creativity, and collaborations of today's world while preparing them for tomorrow's world.
The IST community uses technology and resources to broaden its knowledge and understanding of other languages and cultures. It also understands that technology is an important tool for language acquisition, maintenance and development of the mother tongue and that technology can provide a flexible learning environment to assist students of all levels of language proficiency.
The International School of Tianjin is committed to technology as a tool that is used in a safe and responsible manner by all members of our community for the respectful communication of information, collaboration of work, and global connections.
All teachers are teachers of information literacy and technology with a responsibility to develop all students as risk-takers and achievers that are comfortable and confident using information technology as a bridge in real life, now and in the future. .
It is the responsibility of adults within the community to model good practice of technology use. Students and teachers are expected to use technology in an appropriate and ethical manner.
The school makes every effort to provide technology resources, knowledge and skills which allow students, staff and parents access to materials in their own and other languages. These resources include software programs, CD Roms, internet, on-line data bases, machine translations, DVD, video, audio cassettes and recorders.
In addition, students are encouraged to use their own electronic dictionaries and computer assisted language learning (CALL) to develop their language in and beyond the classroom.
